About Us

In 1931 John and Millie Nelson had a dream of a first class resort on the edge of the wilderness. You can find this dream still alive, and nestled in the north woods of Minnesota. Still operated by the Nelson Family, the tradition of friendly hospitality, impeccable cleanliness and individual service awaits each and every guest. Each of our log and pine paneled cabins along Nelson’s 1 1/2 miles of lake shore awaits your visit. Nelson’s Resort is truly a vacation paradise!

Nelson’s Resort is located on Crane Lake, on the Minnesota – Ontario border, with over 40 miles of continuous waters, the Crane Lake area is virtually a boaters paradise. Entrance to the BWCAW (Boundry Waters Canoe Area Wilderness) is near the resort, and the Voyageurs National Park is just North of the  resort.

There are 3 miles of private hiking trails, with 12 miles of state and federal trails nearby, all offering chances to enjoy bird watching, mountain biking, photography, or simply a relaxing walk.
